1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Cabriolet, one of only 500 produced. The car was initially commissioned by Edsel Ford as a stylish winter “toy” for Palm Beach, based on the Lincoln Zephyr convertible platform but with notable design enhancements such as a lengthened hood and the introduction of the now-iconic Continental kit with a rear-mounted spare tire. This car introduced the iconic Continental kit design with a rear-mounted spare tire behind a shortened trunk. Iconic Art Deco chrome accents, glossy black paint, steel wheels with beauty rings, and wide whitewall tires. The interior features a red and cream leather-cloth mix with an original steering wheel and art deco dashboard, though showing some wear consistent with the car's age. Mechanically, the car houses a smooth-running 292 cubic inch V12 engine paired with a 3-speed manual (3-on-the-tree) transmission. Recent maintenance includes new wheel cylinders, a rebuilt carburetor, and repacked wheel bearings. The vacuum-assisted convertible top operates well, reflecting the advanced engineering of the era.
